Marian McQuade, a housewife from Fayette County, West Virginia, began National Grandparents Day as a way to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She had hoped grandchildren would tap into the wisdom and heritage of grandparents. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
I hope you will look at getting your grandparents a special gift of one or more of my prints. Remember they don't have to be biological grandparents, they can be persons you care for and that you enjoy their knowledge and wisdom.
