Governor William Carroll served 12 years which is the longest served in the history of Tennessee and was known as the "Business Governor" of Nashville TN.

Nashville City Cemetery
Established in 1822, the remains of many early settlers were brought to the cemetery for burial. General James Robertson, Gov. William Carroll, Sec. of Treasury George W. Campbell, Lt. General Richard S. Ewell, Brig. General Felix K. Zollicoffer and Capt. William Driver are among the 20,000 that are buried in the cemetery.
