Major Eugene C. Lewis Pyramid Tomb

Photo Captures created from a recent visit to Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, TN.

E.C. Lewis suggested that a replica of the Parthenon be built. He worked for the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway. The NC&SL was the major financial contributor to the 100 year Tennessee statehood exposition. Nashville being the Athens of the South Lewis suggested that the city of Nashville build the classical structure as their contribution to the Centennial.

"Mount Olivet has been continuously operated since its establishment in 1856. It serves as the final resting place for many of Middle Tennessee's political and business leaders, including several former governors of Tennessee, U.S. Senators, and U.S. Congressional Representatives."
